Personalization plays an important role in creating meaningful memorials. Two popular methods used to add images and inscriptions to granite monuments are laser etching and sandblasting. Each technique offers unique advantages depending on the type of design desired.

Sandblasting is the traditional method used for engraving granite headstones. It involves blasting abrasive particles at high pressure onto the stone’s surface to carve out letters and designs. Because the engraving is physically cut into the granite, sandblasted text is deep, durable, and easy to read. This technique works well for bold lettering, decorative borders, and simple symbols.

Laser etching, on the other hand, uses advanced laser technology to create detailed images on polished granite surfaces. Instead of carving deeply into the stone, the laser lightly alters the surface by removing microscopic layers of polish. This process creates contrast between light and dark areas, producing highly detailed images.
